Next Level chocolate chip cookies
We’re talking about good old fashioned chocolate chip cookies today, folks. Well, almost. These cookies look good and innocent on the outside, but there’s a glorious pool of soft, gooey caramel waiting for you on the inside. This is not a drill. Caramel. INSIDE.
These cookies are addicting on a level that we have never experienced before. Seriously, so good. We both have a near fatal amount of sugar in our systems now, but it’s fine. It was worth it.
We love playing around with chocolate chip cookies if you couldn’t already tell. Chocolate Chip Marshmallow cookies, Chocolate Chip Cookie S’mores, Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies just to name a few. They are easy, they are delicious, they are the perfect thing to give someone to make them stop being mad at you for that thing you did, honestly the list goes on and on.
Caramel and chocolate has always been my favorite combination. Any kind of caramel filled chocolate candy will be destroyed at the speed of light if it comes anywhere near me.
These cookies are no exception. We ate them all in one day. And by one day I actually mean one hour.
Look at those beautiful pools of melty chocolate glistening in the sunlight. SWOON. HEART EYES EMOJI.
If you are over there reading this and wondering “how do they get those glorious puddles of melty chocolate?” WELL TAKE A SEAT AND BUCKLE UP. We are about to tell you!
We have seen this method floating all around the internet and really did not understand it. Like at all. We call it the “cookie smashing technique” and can in no way take credit for it. It literally consists of taking your tray of cookies out of the oven right when they start to flatten out and get all soft and then…you smash the cookie tray down on the counter. It’s going to feel weird, (but also maybe kind of cathartic) when you’re doing it no matter how many times you do it. But that’s how you get the chocolate on top to spread out.
You only have to smash the tray a couple of times to get this affect. Just make sure you put some extra chocolate chips right on top of your cookie dough balls before you pop them in the oven so you actually have chocolate on top that can spread out. We have started doing this every time we make cookies and we are never turning back…Nothing like a good chocolate puddle. Am I right?
These are sinful warm, and fresh out of the oven. All sprinkled with a generous amount of sea salt. Because, salt.
