Chocolate raspberry cream puffs for all occasions!
Happy 2018! Hopefully you didn’t decide that this is the year that you’re finally going to give up dessert…because that would just be sad.
WE ARE BACK! With lots of new recipes to make your resolution of “being healthy” a heck of a lot more difficult. We apologize. You can hate us if you want.
We hope you all had a fantastic New Years that hopefully didn’t leave you with too much of a hangover. Lauren actually went out and did things like a functioning adult while I stayed home, baked cookies, and sprawled out on the couch eating those cookies until midnight. New year, same grandma. I could barely even stay awake until midnight! How do you kids do it!? I am normally passed out by 9pm if not sooner. So as soon as the clock hit midnight, I did my “hooray’s” (while laying down and half asleep) and then I went straight to bed. It was wild.
Now let’s talk cream puffs.
I don’t know about you, but we love a good cream puff. In general, we love delicious things that are filled with more delicious things, and so here we are. It has been our experience that cream puffs are always a crowd favorite. There is something so satisfying about them (probably the large amount of sugar) that makes people gobble them right up.
We love the good old fashioned traditional cream puffs, but we wanted something a little more festive and different.
Who doesn’t love chocolate and raspberries?
And would we even be the Cupcake Chronicles if we didn’t drizzle them with chocolate ganache?
The base of these is a chocolate choux dough..is that even the correct name for it? Not even 100% sure. But it is chocolate. It’s the same dough we used for our chocolate eclairs. A nice crisp outside with a hollow inside, waiting to be filled with delicious cream. Typically you would jab a hole in the bottom and fill them with a piping tip. But we opted to just cut them in half and make cute little sandwiches. Because we love dessert, and we love sandwiches.
Not a fan of raspberries? That’s cool. Try substituting blueberries. Or strawberries. Or any kind of berry for that matter. Or just go crazy and don’t even add any fruit. No matter what you do or do not put in these, they will still taste awesome.
