June has been a little bit overwhelming and hectic, to say the least. So many things to do, and not enough time to do them. I think we all know what that feels like. When life gets crazy and it feels like the ground could actually swallow you up, it is important that you take some time to do things that make you feel better. For us, one of those things is a good old fashioned girls night. Or as we like to call it, twin time.
If you are anything like us, a girls night consists of 2 main things: Wine and snacks. Snacks snacks snacks. When French Ministry of Agriculture offered to send us some of their wine and cheese, we jumped at the opportunity to come up with the perfect dessert to pair it with.
Brownies are one of our go-to, never fail desserts when it comes to an evening of very much needed twin time. Pair them with a big ol’ glass of delicious wine imported from France, and you’ve got yourself the makings of a perfect evening. I don’t think that there is ever a bad time for brownies, and I have never in my whole life met a person that didn’t like them. (Unless I have, and the whole thing was just too traumatizing to deal with so I’ve erased it from my brain). What’s not to like? These brownies, in particular are extra special to us for 2 reasons. 1: They only have 5 ingredients. EASY! And 2: They are made with coconut oil. I know, coconut oil, blah blah. All you ever hear about is coconut oil and I’m sure you’re sick to death of it, but there is a reason that it just won’t go away! It is amazing, and magical, has a zillion uses, smells great, and if you’ve never used it as a hair mask then your hair is seriously missing out I am telling you. The list goes on and on.
These brownies are over the top gooey and delicious and are the perfect addition to an evening of girl talk, or more accurately, arguing for an hour about what to watch on Netflix. I am going to warn you, these brownies are fudgy, but if you use unrefined coconut oil they will also be coconuty on a whole other level, so if you’re one of those people that turns your nose at the mere thought of coconut, then beware. But we happen to loveeeee coconut, so we will be over here eating these by the handful, and then licking the dish clean. What happens at twin night stays at twin night.
When I said snacks snacks snacks earlier, I wasn’t kidding. If you know us at all, you know that we don’t mess around with snack time. We can’t just have one thing. The brownies satisfy our sweet tooth, but of course, we need something salty to go with them. OBVIOUSLY. Do you know us at all?! Personally, a good cheese plate never disappoints me. Is that a weird adult thing to say? I like a good cheese plate, okay? Get some crackers, fancy but affordable french cheese sprinkled with some fancy but affordable french salt, some grapes and ta-da! (The grapes are merely there for aesthetic purposes. There is no fruit at twin time unless it is hidden in a bottle of alcohol, hence the wine).
These French wines from George Duboeuf and Saget La Perriere are delicious and pair perfectly with our snacks. They make you feel like a fancy lady, sitting in front of the Eiffel Tower in white pants, when in reality you are sitting on the couch in pajamas and hair that hasn’t seen a brush in 2 days. They are high quality, for a very affordable price. Isn’t that what we all want in life? If you are looking for something different for your next get together then give these a try. We love trying different wines, and these ones did not disappoint.
