Hi all! It wouldn’t be a proper Cupcake Chronicles blog post if there wasn’t some form of complaining in it. So before I tell you about the Oreo Truffle goodness that you came here for, here I go. It’s like -34 degrees outside and it’s snowing. That is great and all. A winter wonderland. Fa la la la la and all that stuff. Just in time for the holidays. How relaxing to sit in a warm house watching the snow fall. WELL, the power went out about a half an hour ago. Which means no electricity. No food from the fridge, and NO HEAT. I’m starting to get cold. Like Leonardo DeCaprio in The Revenant cold. Or Titanic. Why is smokin’ hot Leo always cold? I’m exaggerating of course. But I certainly am cold.
In addition we have 4 dozen naked cupcakes sitting in the kitchen that need to be frosted for tomorrow, but no power means no working outlet for the mixer. Fingers crossed it comes back on soon. Until then I will sit here with my bag of Cheetos and continue working on my body insulation in the form of extra junk food weight.
In other news, Christmas is soon. Next week soon. Which means holiday parties are soon. And holiday parties mean food. Cookies. Cake. More cookies. MORE CAKE. If you do have a party to go to, you probably want to bring a little something. But you also probably don’t want to spend a lot of time or money on making that something. Especially since your main reason for going to the party is probably to snack on free food that everyone else brought. Free food is the only reason I go to anything.
A day in the life of a Lindsay:
-“Want to go to this thing?”
– “Will there be food?”
–“Say no more. Let me get my coat”
If you are looking for something simple and impossible to screw up then we are here for you. OREO TRUFFLES. Oreos, cream cheese, chocolate, and sprinkles. That is literally all that you need to make these. Chances are you already have most of these items in your pantry. I am going to lay out the steps for you as bluntly as I can.
Put Oreos in a food processor. BLEND BABY BLEND.
Add in cream cheese and mix until combined.
From into cute little Oreo balls.
Refrigerate until firm.
Melt dark chocolate.
Dip balls in chocolate.
Sprinkle with sprinkles.
KABLAMO. That’s it. All you need to do. They are so simple, but so so good. You can garnish them however way you want. Sprinkles make them look more fancy. OR you could drizzle them with white chocolate. Just do what feels right.
I’m not going to lie to you. I have a Ziploc bag full of these next to me as I type this. I’ve been eating them the whole time. They are addicting. And small. So I am justified in eating a bunch. Or so I tell myself.
Fun part about these is you can use any flavor Oreo you want. Oreo has about 93489 flavors to choose from. All would be equally as delicious. You could even smother them in whatever type of chocolate you want. White chocolate, milk chocolate, whatever. We used the Ghiradelli dark chocolate melting wafers and they were the most delicious chocolate globs I’ve ever put in my mouth. So we highly recommend those if you can get your hands on them.
Life update: I ate all the truffles and now my tummy hurts. Pace yourself folks.
